Web design for builders

Builder websites that explain projects before the first site visit.

A builder needs to show which projects they accept, how estimates work and what a customer should prepare before requesting a quotation.

Separate the projects that require different decisions

Someone considering a house extension needs more reassurance and planning information than someone arranging a minor property alteration. A builder's website can separate extensions, renovations, structural alterations and maintenance where those services are genuinely offered. Each page should clarify the type of project accepted, the usual first step and when a site visit is required.

Qualify enquiries without putting people through an interrogation

A short enquiry can ask for property location, nature of work, stage of planning and an approximate timeframe. If drawings or permissions are needed, explain when they become relevant rather than requesting sensitive documents through a general contact form. A customer should know whether they are asking for an initial conversation or a formal quotation.

Use real project stories, not generic galleries

Where the client has consented, an individual project page can describe what was built, the scope of the builder's involvement, the order of stages and photographs that accurately represent the work. If a project had specialist subcontractors, do not claim every task was carried out in-house. Clear captions add more value than repeating “best builder” in every image.

Make the process easy to anticipate

For a significant renovation, outline the journey from first contact to survey, detailed quote, agreed scope, schedule and handover. Explain what is not included when relevant. That can help prevent poor-fit leads and improve the quality of initial conversations.

Should a builder website publish prices?

Project costs vary, so a fixed headline price is not always meaningful. An explanation of how pricing is assessed, and what information supports a quotation, is more useful than an invented “from” figure.
